Economic Development Board for Tacoma-Pierce County
Clean Water Technology Cluster Development Project
BERK assisted a multi-jurisdictional Project Team to accelerate development of a Clean Water Technology Cluster in Tacoma, anchored by the Center for Urban Waters. The project objective was to leverage the Center and other assets to drive investment in clean water technologies to stimulate job creation in Tacoma and Pierce County. Through interviews and facilitated discussions, BERK compiled information and created an Excel-based database of existing clean water businesses and organizations, potential organizations for recruitment, clean water conferences and associations, and potential funders. BERK also explored opportunities for increasing clean water-related economic activity in Tacoma, by examining the criteria by which clean water companies make location decisions and the connections to other businesses and economic activity.
