Port of Seattle

Harbor Development Strategy 21

BERK served as lead consultant for a comprehensive strategic plan for the Port’s Seaport (Marine Division), involving an analysis of strategic business issues for the Seaport’s six lines of business and its real estate assets, which encompass 1,500 acres. We designed the overall strategic planning process, managed a team of subconsultants, coordinated and facilitated a 30-member Advisory Committee and an Oversight Committee, and prepared presentations for the Port Commission.

The strategic recommendations, which included new frameworks and decision models for management of the Port’s real estate assets, were unanimously adopted by the Port Commission in June 2001, and continue as framework policies for Seaport operations.
