BERK provided multi-year project management, program evaluation, and facilitation services for the finance element of the Public Health Improvement Plan. We supported a committee of public health professionals and policymakers focused on improving the system of funding for public health in Washington. As part of this project we analyzed program funding options, examined state and local revenues and expenditures, and developed policy questions and models that informed recommendations for system improvements.
We worked closely with the Washington State Public Health Improvement Partnership Finance Committee to summarize the challenges and choices facing the state’s system for financing local public health. The report combined a synthesis of past Committee studies with new analysis of state financial data and was delivered to members of the Legislature’s Joint Select Committee on Public Health Financing.
