RapidRide G Line (Madison St BRT) Outreach
Marcia Wagoner and Rebecca Fornaby are supporting outreach to properties on the Madison St Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor in First Hill and Downtown.
Our role has included creating public outreach plans, identifying property contacts along the corridor, conducting door-to-door outreach and one-on-one interviews, coordinating small group briefings, staffing open houses, and distributing outreach materials.
We’re working with approximately 100 stakeholders ranging from Downtown high rises and First Hill hospitals to small business owners who speak English as a second language and require translation services.
We’re currently preparing to support the construction phase by closely coordinating with impacted stakeholders to communicate project status updates and help to mitigate disruptions. Over the past five years, we’ve maintained relationships with the properties along the future bus corridor despite ongoing changes in staffing, management, and ownership. We keep rigorous records of contacts and comments to help SDOT understand stakeholder needs. In addition to business turnover, we are continually adapting to significant changes in the project schedule and working with the project team to develop messaging around these changes.
