Little Saigon 2030 Action Plan receives 2022 APA/PAW Excellence in Planning Award

Community event to promote Action Plan (February 2022)

The Little Saigon 2030 Action Plan has been awarded the 2022 APA/PAW Excellence in Planning Award. This joint award honors projects which showcase excellent planning in the public and private center.

BERK worked with the Friends of Little Saigon to develop a community action plan for the next decade. This project will support culture, community services, public spaces, small businesses, and safety in the neighborhood. We led an extensive public engagement plan which including community events with live translation, social media campaigns, and an online survey. We also worked with a Leadership Committee comprised of local stakeholders. The Plan will be used to advocate for investment, additional resources, and fair, supportive decisions and processes over the next decade. The yearlong process of developing the Action Plan built trust, relationships, and a shared Vision with this diverse coalition. The Action Plan is an example of how community-led planning can work at the neighborhood scale in an ethnically diverse neighborhood.
