Jefferson County Adopts its Comprehensive Plan

In 2018, BERK partnered with Jefferson County to complete a review and update of the County’s Comprehensive Plan. The updated Comprehensive Plan, adopted unanimously by Jefferson County’s Board of County Commissioners, is a streamlined, easy to navigate, and legally defensible document that reinforces the community’s vision.

In addition to periodic update requirements consistent with the Growth Management Act, BERK helped the County address issues unique to rural communities, including limited areas of more intense rural development (LAMIRDs), rural public facilities and services, agriculture related economic development opportunities, and rural housing affordability. BERK also supported several well-attended public meetings and assisted County staff throughout the legislative process.
