Josh Linden
Josh has a background in transportation and land use planning, spatial analysis, data visualization, and policy evaluation. He is passionate about using local planning to increase access to opportunities, expand sustainable and equitable transportation options, improve housing affordability, and empower communities. Josh particularly enjoys using data to share community stories.
Prior to joining BERK in 2021, Josh worked as a transportation planner for Jacobs Engineering. He has also worked for several international development organizations in Washington, D.C, managing democracy and governance programs and serving as a data visualization specialist for a range of foreign aid initiatives. Josh is currently on the Montgomery County (MD) Planning Board. He was recently the co-chair of the Bureau and Budget Advisory Committee for Portland’s Bureau of Transportation. He has a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from Portland State University, a Master of Arts in Democracy and Governance from Georgetown University, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from James Madison University.
Outside BERK
Born and raised in Virginia, Josh left the east coast and its humidity for the Pacific Northwest in 2018 (after a 9-year layover in Washington, D.C.), and he loves exploring his new home. Always up for something new, Josh enjoys a good board game with friends, hiking into the mountains, and occasionally trying his hand at brewing beer and making strange salsas. If he’s not at home reading or working on a house project with his partner, Jillian, you can find him biking around Portland or at one of the city’s many dog parks with his pup, Toby.
